Poor Rowan! He facing a kick in the teeth from an American diocese and doesn't seem to know what to do. As I read scripture it seems patently obvious what needs to be done. Seems to me that many have lost sight of the Doctrine of Sin.

Recommended Book

I read on a Christian blog a recommendation for the book "Notes from an Exhibition" by Patrick Gale. It is an interesting book in many ways. Unfortunately, in my opinion it is not a book to recommend to Christians. The spiritual content revolves around a Quaker family. By page 134 one of the sons is involved in a sexual liason with a woman met in an hotel. This is described in some detail. Two other characters in the book, at least, are involved in homosexual activity. This is described in approving terms. No mention is even suggested that homosexual activity is far removed from God's best for us. The apostle Paul wrote "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice." Philippians 4:8 The book is quite well written, but I...

New Wine

Just back from New Wine. The theme this year was Stepping Out. Excellent time as usual, though thought a number of the main venue speakers were not up to standard. Weather for the first few days was a little unkind, though we survived.

Economic Disaster?

Here we go again. Lots of people on TV seem to be getting excited because there are hints that house sales are beginning to move and that this will be followed by an increase in house prices. Don't we ever learn? This is is just another sign that we are, once again, on the slippery road to ruin. What is really required is for our nation to turn to Jesus Christ.

Heavenscent 3

Heavenscent went well last night. Activities included mini squash, football, rounders, face painting, music and the burgers were good. It is the last night tonight. 7pm on Morven Park. See you there.

Heavenscent 2

Last night's weather was very kind, if a bit chilly. The football went really well. About 50 burgers plus plenty of sausages were well received. There are a troublesome group of youg teenagers who are giving some grief. Please pray for them. Meeting again on Morven Park again tonight at 7.30 pm. If you would like someone to pray with you, please come along.

Prayer for Kirkby-in-Ashfield

Saturday (the 11th) is Kirkby-in-Ashfield prayer breakfast hosted by 7Cs Church at the Vernon Road Community Centre. Very important invent in the life of Kirkby though most inhabitants may not be aware of it. Plenty to pray about Revival Growth of the Churches New heart for Kirkby Reduction in crime More better quality jobs See you there at 8.15 am for half an hour of toast, jam, marmalade, tea, and chat and then maybe an hour of prayer. OK.

Heavenscent

Every year Ashwood Church have a fantastic event on Morven Park. They provide music, games, burgers, hot dogs and chat for about two hours every evening from Monday to Friday. The aim is to just bless Kirkby-in-Ashfield in the name of the Lord. Monday night went well with plenty of activities and good burgers. Last night the games went well but the weather was a bit wet. We are praying for Kirkby. If you're about tonight at about 7pm then call in. If you need some one to pray with you then call in as well.
